Coaching in Cali

19 September 2016

It is always a pleasure to track our clients progress in the USA. The greatest satisfaction comes when you see these young men and women graduate and move into employment.

Jack Wainwright went through the P4S Network program in 2011-2012, taking part in the annual Showcase and Tour of North Carolina. In 2012 he joined Feather River College (NJCAA) where he spent 2 years before transferring to Marymount California University (NAIA) for his final 2 years.

This summer saw him graduate with his BA in Marketing and now has started coaching full time. Recently we caught up with Jack for a Q & A which should provide great insight for our current clients before they head out to to the USA in 2017 or 2018.

Why did you decide to study in the USA? I had always gone on vacation in the USA. My cousins were also student-athletes in the system.

What was the highlight of your 4 years in the USA? Reaching Nationals in my Junior Year and finishing ranked number 3 in the nation. Also graduating with my BA in Marketing.

It is an experience you would recommend to other young footballers? Definitely. It is a great way to get an education whilst playing a high level of football.

How did you get your current job in coaching? I got my club soccer (Strikers FC SouthBay) coaching position through a team mate at my university.  My job at El Segundo High School as the Head Soccer coach came through another coach contact at Strikers FC SouthBay.

What is a typical day for you? I wake up around 8.00 am. I take a couple of personal training clients. I then have a break in the day where I will either workout of head to the beach. I then run my High school coaching session 4.00 pm - 6.00 pm and I then take my club coaching session at 7.00 pm - 9.00 pm.

What are your plans for the next 5 years? It is hard to say. I would like to maintain my residency here in Southern California and add to my coaching qualifications.
