Bruce Signs Pro With New Mexico United
Pass4Soccer client Daniel Bruce has just signed his first professional contract, with USL Championship side New Mexico United.
Bruce, who has just been revealed by the expansion club, previously played for the English Schools FA National Team and starred in the P4S showcase event in December 2013.
After that, he gained a scholarship and, spent his college career, with the University of North Carolina at Charlotte between 2014 and 2018.
The playmaker enjoyed a successful time with the NCAA DI side and made 63 appearances, 52 starts, scored 18 goals and created 12 assists.
The 22-year-old started in New Mexico’s preseason friendly win over Energy FC and told United’s website that he is “thankful” for signing his first pro contract.
“I feel very privileged to sign my first professional contract with New Mexico United. It’s a great group of guys, who have both welcomed and pushed me in the short time I've been here,” Bruce told the club’s official website.
"There is a great culture here, and it’s going to be an exciting season for the club. I’m very thankful for the opportunity.”
The Warrington-native, during his college playing days, earned Conference USA Player of the Week (twice), Conference USA Regular Season Title, First-Team All-Conference USA, NCCSIA All-State, Third-Team All-Southeast Region and Second-Team All-Conference USA.
New Mexico Head Coach Troy Lesesne also spoke with the club’s website and is “confident” Bruce can make his mark in the USL Championship.
“Daniel joins our club after a great college career at UNC Charlotte. Every time I watched him, he would simplify the game for his teammates, but make it very difficult on the opponent,” said Lesesne.
“He's an extremely competitive individual that refuses to be outworked and I'm confident he will make the most of his first professional contract.”
New Mexico United are getting ready to compete in the USL Championship for the very first time and are the state’s first professional soccer franchise.
The 2019 campaign gets underway on March 9 as United begin their inaugural season at home to Fresno FC.
