USL Weekly Preview - June 9

07 June 2019

USL Weekly Preview

Midfielder Daniel Bruce made his full debut for New Mexico United through the week and could feature this weekend against Sacramento Republic FC.

Andrew Fox made his return to the El Paso Locomotive starting line-up in Week 13 and played the full 90 minutes against Tacoma Defiance.

Midfielder Charlie Dennis also played the full game for his team, for South Georgia Tormenta, last week and Joe Holland came off the bench to feature for Birmingham Legion.

Each of the eight players, who could feature this weekend, gained scholarships through P4S, went on to have successful university careers - as well as graduating with a degree - and are now playing professionally in the United States.

USL Championship - Week 14

Hartford Athletic vs Saint Louis FC - June 9 (12:00am)

Saint Louis FC's game against Memphis 901 was postponed last weekend due to adverse weather, but Lewis Hilton was named in the starting line-up when the team news was posted.

The midfielder played the full game in STLFC's last league encounter, which was two weeks ago. They were held to a goalless draw against Louisville City.

Saint Louis have only conceded six goals all season, the second-fewest in the USLC, and currently sit eighth in the Eastern Conference - unbeaten in their last four games.

Their opponents this weekend, Hartford Athletic, have scored the second-fewest foals in the USLC (10) and they sit bottom of the conference having won one game out of 13 in 2019.

However, Hartford are unbeaten in their previous three games. They picked up their first win of the season, which was followed by back-to-back draws - including the 1-1 tie with North Carolina FC last weekend.

Charleston Battery vs Birmingham Legion FC - June 9 (12:30am)

Holland featured in Birmingham Legion's last match, the midfielder came off the bench in the second-half and played 27 minutes.

The Legion lost 2-0 at home to conference-leaders Tampa Bay Rowdies, but have also lost four of their last six games.

Birmingham currently sit 12th in their conference, but have second the fewest goals (9) out of all 36 teams in the USL Championship.

Charleston sit one place below them, but are winless in their last five league games. Their last match ended in a 4-1 defeat away to Louisville City in Week 13.

Memphis 901 FC vs Indy Eleven - June 9 (1:30am)

Macauley King was an unused substitute for Indy Eleven in their 2-1 victory over Pittsburgh Riverhounds last weekend.

The Eleven came from behind to score two goals in the final 20 minutes to get revenge for their US Open Cup defeat against the Riverhounds.

Indy's win at Lucas Oil Stadium saw them move up to fifth in the Eastern Conference. They are unbeaten in five and have won two of their last three matches.

Memphis are 14th in the conference, but their game, against Saint Louis last weekend, was postponed.

The 901 are unbeaten in their last three games and their last match ended in a 2-2 draw with Swope Park Rangers.

San Antonio FC vs Reno 1868 FC - June 9 (1:30am)

This match could see two PASS4Soccer clients go head-to-head as Johnny Fenwick's San Antonio team welcome Seymore's Reno 1868 side to Toyota Field.

Fenwick was an unused substitute for San Antonio's game last weekend and they are third-bottom in the Western Conference after the 2-1 defeat away to Sacramento Republic.

SAFC are winless in their last five games, while Reno are fourth in the conference, five points off the leaders with two games in hand.

Seymore came off the bench to play the final half-hour in Reno's last match. They picked up an emphatic 4-0 victory over Nevada-rivals Las Vegas Lights in Week 13.

The midfielder and his team are unbeaten in their previous four games, winning two and scoring 11 goals in the process.

El Paso Locomotive FC vs LA Galaxy II - June 9 (2:30am)

Fox made his return to the El Paso Locomotive starting line-up last weekend, for the first time since the end of March.

The defender played the full 90 minutes of El Paso's 2-1 win away to Tacoma Defiance and their run of good form and surge up the table continues.

Locomotive are unbeaten in their last seven games, winning four, and are now up to sixth in the Western Conference.

LA Galaxy II are sitting 10th in the conference, unbeaten in four, but those last four games have all ended in a draw.

The Galaxy are listed second in the amount of goals conceded table this season (28) and drew 0-0 with OKC Energy last weekend.

New Mexico United vs Sacramento Republic FC - June 9 (2:30am)

Bruce become the latest PASS4 client to go on to make their full professional debut, after graduating from university, this past week.

The midfielder was named in the starting line-up and played 67 minutes during the 1-1 draw with OKC Energy during the week - which was live on ESPN in the US.

New Mexico United have scored the most goals (31) in the USL Championship and they continue to shine in their debut season.

United currently sit top of the Western Conference and Kevaughan Frater (10) and Santi Moar (9) lead the way in the goal-scoring standings too.

Sacramento sit 11th in the conference and have won just two of their previous seven games. In their last match, they beat San Antonio 2-1 in front of over 10,000 fans.

USL League One - Week 11

South Georgia Tormenta vs Chattanooga Red Wolves SC - June 9 (1:00am)

Dennis took his appearances into double-figures after playing the full 90 minutes for South Georgia Tormenta last weekend.

Tormenta drew 0-0 away to Greenville Triumph in Week 10, but still remain unbeaten in their last five matches - three wins - and sit second in USL League One.

The midfielder has now made 10 appearances for Tormenta, who have drawn back-to-back games, but have also conceded the second-fewest amount of goals in 2019.

Chattanooga are sixth in the table and have picked up four points from their previous two games.

The Red Wolves, who drew 2-2 at home to Toronto FC II last weekend, were 3-2 winners against Tormenta in Week 4 after scoring three goals in the first 17 minutes of the game.

Kick-off times are based on UK time and all USL Championship games and highlights, and USL League One highlights, will be available on their official YouTube channels.
