Seed "Excited" By Manchester City Draw
Client Helen Seed and her FF Lugano 1976 team were handed a dream tie against Women’s Super League side Manchester City in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
The Swiss outfit will be competing in Europe this season and the tie sees Seed return to England country and play just an hour from her former home town.
Seed studied and played at Carson Newman University between 2014 and 2017 and graduated last year. It was announced, not long ago, that the midfielder had signed professionally with Lugano.
The Preston-native told PASS4 that the squad were together watching the Champions League draw live and admitted that everyone was “super excited” after being paired with City.
“It was really exciting watching the draw,” she said. “We all watched as a team and are super excited to play a big team like Manchester City.
“I’m excited to be so close to home and to have the chance for family and friends to come and watch such a big game.”
She continued: “I’m excited for this team, we’ve played some big teams already in preseason, AC Milan and Juventus, and competed really well against them despite narrowly losing 1-0 in both games.
“We’ve got lots of positives to take from that! Our season starts this weekend, so we’re hoping for a strong start to set the tone for the rest of the season and leading into Champions League.”
Lugano have played against some big name teams in pre-season, with Seed going up against the likes of Italian giants Juventus and AC Milan.
Her time at college set her up for what was to come. The defender spoke about how her first month in Switzerland has been.
She added: “My first month in Switzerland has been great, we’ve had a long pre-season, which has really helped us gel as a team and get to know each other as players and people.
“The practices are a little different to the US. It is very technique focused and lots of repetitions, but it’s been great so far and I’m always learning.”
